Nanjing Tech Week kicks off Purple Mountain Innovation Conference

The Purple Mountain Innovation Conference held on June 21 heralded the start of the annual edition of the Nanjing Tech Week.

 

Xu Nanping, deputy minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology and member of the Party Leadership Group, addressed the opening ceremony.

 

Zhang Jinghua, deputy secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Han Liming, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, also attended the innovation conference and delivered speeches.

 

Xu Nanping emphasized that Nanjing must play its role as a benchmark in the construction of a science and technology powerhouse and the construction of a national innovative city, adding that the Ministry of Science and Technology will support Nanjing to build an influential original innovation source, become a national model in carbon emission peak and carbon neutrality, and create a pilot zone for comprehensive reform of the scientific and technological system.

 

Zhang Jinghua said that Nanjing is the backbone and leader in the construction of a strong science and technology province in Jiangsu. He hoped that Nanjing will take this innovation week as an opportunity to build a more ambitious innovation industry cluster and an array of innovative enterprises.

 

Han Liming stated that Nanjing will rely on innovation to promote the high-quality development of the real economy, vigorously develop an innovative economy, accelerate the transformation of innovative resource advantages into high-quality development industrial advantages, and build an industrial technology innovation center with global influence.

 

Experts and scholars, Nobel and Turing Prize winners, and world-renowned corporate executives and heads of investment institutions offered suggestions for the construction of Nanjing's innovative city campaign by focusing on urban innovation under the new development pattern.

 

In addition, Institute of Computing Technology, Institute of Software, Institute of Automation, and Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences released their mega-science projects which would be constructed in Nanjing.
