Deng Yong, Deputy Secretary-General of CAS and Party Secretary of the University of CAS, and Ma Shizhuang, Vice President of the University of CAS visited Nanjing Branch of CAS From Feb.4 to 5, 2013.
During the visit to Nanjing, Deng Yong and his retinue went to Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology, Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Nanjing Institute of Astronomical Optics&Technology, Nanjing Institute of Soil Science and Purple Mountain Observatory, where spot investigation was carried out and discussion meeting on graduate education was held with leaders, education officials and tutor representatives of these institutes.
After detailed understanding about the development and graduate education of these institutes, Deng Yong spoke highly of the obtained achievements and introduced the basic situation since the founding of the University of CAS. In addition, topics of our concern were heatedly discussed such as the co-build of elite classes with university, the training of straight-PHD, the recruitment of overseas students, the doctoral system management, and the department setup of the University of CAS.
As soon as the visiting about the above institutes finished, Deng Yong and his entourage made a special trip to Nanjing Branch to report the relevant situation to President Zhou Jianmin, Party Secretary Zhang Xingzhong and Vice President Gu Xiaohong. He fully affirmed the long-term care and support by Nanjing Branch to these institutes about graduate management and hoped we would play a greater role in faculty application and camp construction of these graduate training institutes.
