On the afternoon of April 8, Mr. Zhou Jianmin, Vice Chairman of Jiangsu Provincial CPPCC and President of Nanjing Branch CAS, made a special trip to the hospital to visit Mr. Chen Yi, Division of Chemistry of CAS Members and former acting President of Nanjing University, represented the CAS President Mr. Bai Chunli to academician Chen Yi 80 birthday congratulations, and sent a congratulatory message from President Bai at the same time.

April 11 is the 80^th birthday of academician Chen Yi. In the ward we prepared a simple birthday ceremony and sent flowers and birthday cake for him.

In the ward just gone with the fever, Mr. Chen was chatting and laughing with Mr. Zhou. When President Zhou expressed this coming for his birthday, Mr. Chen thanked CAS President Bai Chunli, the academic divisions of the CAS, Nanjing Branch and comrades of academician liaison office concern for him.
