On the afternoon of May 22, Fang xin, the Vice Communist Party Secretary of CAS, had research on Institute of Soil Science, Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology and Institute of Botany, Jiangsu Province and CAS, accompanied by Zhou jianmin, Zhang xingzhong and Gu xiaohong. She discussed with researchers, listened to report of the implementation of “135”plan, and learned about the progress of innovation culture.

In the Institute of Soil Science, Fang xin pointed out that we should not only focus on achieving three major breakthroughs, but also attach high importance to cultivate five directions so that good foundation can be laid for future development. She hoped that the Institute of Soil Science will combine major national demand with science frontier, and focus on the integration with other related disciplines. Only in this way, core competiveness of the institute can be enhanced, and greater contribution can be made to the national food security and ecological environment protection.

In Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology, Fang xin hoped the new session of leadership will unite and cooperate to make the institute develop better. She stressed that Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology must play its unique role as the only comprehensive research institute on lake-basin. Finally, she hoped that the institute can meet national demand in the field of lake research and lake governance and continuously make new achievements.

In Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology and Institute of Botany, Jiangsu Province and CAS, Fang xin first visited the exhibition showroom and listened to the introduction of basic information of the Garden. Then she had a conversation with the science and technology personnel, and asked about the latest progress in species collection and research. Finally, she visited the library information building and scientific experiment building which are about to open. She praised highly on the long history, research, Science Popularizing and other achievement of the Garden.
