On September 1st, freshman orientation of Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology was held. Leaders and researchers communicated with the newly enrolled 14 graduate students and 11 doctoral students. 

Yang Qun, the president of Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology, expressed a warm welcome to the arrival of the students. He briefly introduced the institute, clarified its positioning and tasks. Then he hoped the students inherit and carry forward the glorious tradition of the institute, and strive for the scientific frontier and national needs. 

Zhan Renbin, vice president of Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology, shared the motto of the University of CAS with the students, and gave them some valuable suggestions. He encouraged the students to read more books, and strive to enrich themselves. 

Wang Jun, and Zhou Chuanming ,the researchers, shared their own research experience. They suggested that the majority of students should actively communicate with the teachers and cultivate a good relationship between each other. They also stressed the importance of interest.
