CAS Astronomy Geo-Science and Biology Scientific Inquiry Activities were operated by CAS and Nanjing branch of CAS piloted and demonstrated a new model of science and education activity on science and education integration. Nanjing Branch organized sophomore students of elite class of Nanjing Normal University Affiliated Middle School to carry out the scientific experiments in the labs of CAS. 

Using half-day time of every Saturday afternoon, the students have carried out more than three months of scientific research work in the lab. They finished basic knowledge preparation and preparatory work, and formally entered the stage of experiment research. Half of the teams have made the first scientific research data.  

In order to check and supervise the scientific research work and to provide the students a chance to show themselves, on April 9, Nanjing branch of CAS organized a defense in west conference room and all seven reporting teams did the opening reports. In the report, the guide teachers agreed that the students carried out the scientific research work and obtained greatly achievements beyond the expected value. The activity enhanced the high school students' understanding of the Chinese Academy of Science and scientific research work.
