On January 11, 2018, the signing ceremony of cooperation agreement between Purple Mountain Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and National Supercomputing Center in Wuxi, was held at Purple Mountain Observatory. Yang Guangwen, director of the National Supercomputing Center in Wuxi, together with Yang Ji, director of Purple Mountain Observatory, and Chang Jin, deputy director of Purple Mountain Observatory, attended the signing ceremony.

National Supercomputing Center in Wuxi is currently one of the most powerful computing platforms in the world. The management team from Tsinghua University possesses top high-performance computing technology in China. In order to utilize their advantages in astronomical big data analysis, high-precision computation and multi-scale simulation, both sides will focus on the cooperation in constructing the hardware and software platforms in high-precision simulation for the DAMPE satellite “Wukong”, astronomical big data storage and analysis, high-precision integrated computing, multi-scale simulation, etc. Besides, both sides will cooperate to develop new computation methods, technologies and software especially for astronomical big data.

Both sides also reached consensus on establishing a joint laboratory and made an elementary plan of the future work.
