They are Prof. CHANG Jin, director of the Purple Mountain Observatory (PMO), CAS, Prof. CUI Tiejun and Prof. DUAN Jin from Southeast University, and Prof. WANG Jinlong from Army Engineering University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). They are from three divisions of the CAS Academic Divisions (CASAD), respectively in mathematics and physics, information technical sciences and technological sciences.
CASAD was founded in June, 1955, six years after the foundation of CAS. It has served as an advanced national think-tank to the Chinese Government on major science and technology issues. The Government attaches much importance to this scientific community. It now has about 800 academicians as well as 90 foreign academicians. |
