Invited by Prof. Qiangbin Wang, Prof. Roland H. Stauber from Medical University Mainz, visited Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SINANO), and gave an academic speech entitled “The relevance of the biomolecule corona for nanomedicine and nanosafety” on Oct 16th, 2015.

Besides the wide use of engineered nanomaterials (NM) in technical products, their applications are increasing in biotechnology and biomedicine. As the corona impacts in vitro and/or in vivo NM applications in humans, a mechanistic understanding of its relevance and the biophysical forces regulating corona formation is mandatory. In the speech of Prof. Stauber, he introduced their recent progress on the study of dynamic nanoparticle-protein corona interactions and how corona signatures may be linked to effects at the nano-bio interface in physiological and environmental systems. After the report, Prof. Stauber discussed with participants and visited the Division of Nanobiomedicine.
